Tbilisi opposition wants to challenge the fee for kindergartens in the court
Representatives of the Georgian opposition movement "National Council" intends to appeal in the court introduction of fees for kindergartens in the Georgian capital. As reported by the "Georgia-News", it was announced today to reporters at a briefing by the Head of Legal Services of "National Council" Roin Hidzhakadze.
"The introduction of fees for kindergartens contrary to the 35th article of the Constitution of Georgia which states that preschool education is provided by the government according to the norms established by law; but the corresponding change on the introduction of payment for day care have not been made to the law" - said Hidzhakadze.
However, representatives of Tbilisi City Hall say that kindergartens have been paid even before, and the novelty is that the city authorities are seeking to ensure its transparency.
"A similar fee existed in kindergarten, but it was not transparency and the decision of the City Hall was driven by a desire to systematize this industry and to restore social justice" - said in Tbilisi City Hall.
