"Gruzstat": foreign trade turnover of Georgia with CIS countries is growing
Today the Georgian Statistical Office "Gruzstat" unveiled data on indicators of external trade turnover with CIS countries. As reported by the "Business-Georgia", this figure continues to grow. Thus, according to figures from January-July 2011, the rate of external trade turnover with CIS countries amounted to $ 1641 million. This is 42 percent more than in January-July 2010.
Exports totaled $ 574 million - 67 percent increase, while imports - $ 1 067 million - growth of 31 percent from a year earlier.
The share of CIS countries in total foreign trade of Georgian turnover is 34 percent, including 48 percent of exports and 29 percent of imports. According to figures for 2010 - respectively 22, 40 and 30 per cent.
20 percent of Georgia's trade deficit falls to the CIS countries. In 2010 the figure was 26 percent.
Earlier today, "Gruzstat" also released figures on the trade turnover of Georgia with the European Union.
Following the period from January to July 2011 it was 1.228 billion dollars. This 32 percent increase over the same period last year.
