They asked to remove the monument by Tsereteli from Tbilisi
A request to dismantle the monument to St. George at Freedom Square in Tbilisi was sent to the city hall of the Georgian capital. As reported by Trend, this request to authorities of Tbilisi was sent by the NGO "Banner-bearer of St. George." As the head of this organization - father Elizbar Diakonidze explained in an interview, its members believe that the monument was created in the non-orthodox style and should be dismantled.
"This sculpture by Zurab Tsereteli does not correspond to the Orthodox style. We can see only the dragon from any corner of the survey" - said Diakonidze.
At this point, at Freedom Square, a monument to 17 fighters heroically died in the village of Shindisi in 2008 should be established, further noted the head of the NGO. He said that over 30 thousand people had put their signatures under demanding the dismantling of the monument.
Members of NGO "Banner-bearer of St. George" intend to organize a special procession from the pantheon of Mtatsminda to Freedom Square on August 30, during which they once again will demand removal of the monument.
