According to information announced today by Foreign Minister of Abkhazia Maxim Gvindzhia, the election of President of Abkhazia is being held even abroad. A polling station was opened in the Russian capital at 8.00, as well as in Cherkessk. According to news agency "Apsnipress", this information was announced by the Minister, during a meeting with reporters at the Information Center of the CEC of RA.
"In order to organize voting on elections in Abkhazia in other countries, they should get a formal resolution of the country, where the polling station will be located. In particular, we have established inter-state relations with the Russian Federation and this fact allows us to open the polls there. We hope that during next election, the citizens of Abkhazia will be able to vote in more countries around the world with which we'll establish relations"- said Gvindzhia.
He added that in total 119 observers from 27 countries are monitoring the process of elections.
"We were expecting more people, because the parliament had sent out invitations to all the parliaments of the CIS countries and to virtually all major international organizations" - noted the Minister. Gvindzhia also expressed his confidence that the current elections will be fair, transparent and without fraud.
