John Bass: Sakartvelo is moving forward
According to the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Bass, Sakartvelo is moving forward and this is reflected in the parliament and public opinion in the country. As reported by "Georgia-News", Ambassador announced this position today during a talk show "Dialogue" at the TV-channel of Batumi - "25-channel".
"Georgia is moving forward and developing democracy, and will do so in the future. This is naturally reflected in the institutions, in the Georgian Parliament and in the public opinion. If 30 percent of the population of Georgia has a definite opinion, it does not mean that this opinion should be the only to be expressed in the Parliament of Georgia. Official institutions, in one way or another, should reflect all the views of society" - said the U.S. ambassador.
Speaking of the tragic events of May 26 at Rustaveli Square in Tbilisi, Bass said that "it is clear that mistakes were allowed. Excessive force was used during the dispersal of protesters as well as later, and it is important that these facts have been investigated".
The U.S. diplomat visited today the Batumi "25-channel" during the two-day visit to western Georgia. He was with his wife Holly Holzer on this trip.
