In Batumi, Georgian-Azerbaijani Conference is being held
According to deputies of the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Mejlis), developing of Azerbaijan and Georgia is interconnected. As reported by Trend, such opinion was expressed at the conference "The Twentieth Year Since the Restoration of State Independence of Azerbaijan" which was opened yesterday in the capital of Adjara - Batumi.
"The coming to power of national leader Heydar Aliyev was the turning point in relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia. Heydar Aliyev has proved that together Azerbaijan and Georgia can be stronger. Georgia is involved in all the projects undertaken by Azerbaijan because Georgia's development is extremely important for Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan and Georgia are bound not only by history but also by current economic, political and cultural relations" - said Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva during her speech at the conference.
The development of Azerbaijani-Georgian relations is also important for the development of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia, said the MP. "This issue has always been at the forefront in the relations between the two countries. Today, the conditions for the development of Azerbaijanis living in Georgia are being created" - added Pashayeva.
This conference in Batumi also involves the head of the State Committee for Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov, Commissioner for Human Rights Elmira Suleymanova, the MPs Ganira Pashayeva, Musa Gasimli, Gular Akhmedov, Georgian State Minister for Diaspora Affairs Mirza Davitaia, the governor of Kvemo-Kartli region David Kirkitadze and Consul General of Azerbaijan to Batumi Hussein Najaf.
