Representatives of the opposition "Free Georgia" warns of the dangers of proliferation of anthrax in Dedoplistskaroysky region of the country. According to "Business-Georgia", the opposition immediately offered to withdraw meat of infected cattle from sale in the area.
In Dedoplistskaro, a 39-year-old man was infected with anthrax by handling the carcass of the animal. The fact that he was infected became known later, after the meat has been delivered into the trading network" - the head of the regional organization of "Free Georgia" Tamil Gurashvili explained in an interview.
"We need urgently to ascertain where this meat was delivered. It is a serious threat to human health. Specialist of veterinary services Eter Yakobidze said he has heard nothing about this fact. The population of the area is scared and unprotected" - said Gurashvili.
Local law enforcement agencies urgently need to launch an investigation into the matter, she added. Gurashvili also drew attention of local authorities on a number of other problems in the region.
"15 hectares of vineyards were burned in very suspicious circumstances in the village Samtatskaro. People think that interested people who want to lay out olive groves here, specially had set fire to the vineyards. People suspect them to be patronized by high-ranking officials" - concluded Gurashvili.
