Patriarch Kirill congratulated the new leader of Abkhazia
Congratulations on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill was sent to Alexander Ankvab who won the presidential elections in Abkhazia. This was reported by "Apsnypress". "Supporting of your active citizenship and recognition of years of experience of your work demonstrate the commitment the residents of Abkhazia on its path to peace, development of international cooperation and improving the social and spiritual living" - noted further in the message.
"I hope that the centuries-old cultural and religious traditions, linking the fraternal peoples, will serve as a stable foundation for wider cooperation. I wish you prosperity, longevity and all-powerful God's help in coming laborious service" - concluded the head of the Russian Orthodox Church in his message to the new president of Abkhazia.
Recall, Ankvab scored 54.9 percent of the votes in the first round of presidential elections in Abkhazia on August 26.
