In Afghanistan, the Georgian peacekeeper was killed
During attack of Taliban forces in Afghanistan, one Georgian soldier was killed. This was reported by "Georgia-News" referring to the Ministry of Defense. This is the tenth Georgian soldier who was killed during the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan, added in the Defense Ministry.
"Junior sergeant Revaz Beridze served in Helmand province in the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the mission ISAF. Beridze died in result of injuries sustained during attack of the Taliban while being on patrol" - said on the eve the Georgian Ministry of Defense. They, however, did not specify when exactly the tragedy occurred. We only know that the body of the deceased is is already transfered to the homeland.
"The Ministry of Defence of Georgia mourns the soldier deceased during the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan, junior sergeant Revaz Beridze, and expresses condolences to his family" - said the Ministry in a statement.
Beridze served in the Armed Forces of Georgia since 2002. Before that, he participated in the peacekeeping mission in Iraq.
Georgian peacekeepers are serving in Afghanistan since 2009.
