The opposition demands to reduce the number of Georgian peacekeepers in Afghanistan
Oppositional the "Georgian Party" expressed its condolences in connection with the death of tenth Georgian military Revaz Beridze in Afghanistan. As reported by "Georgia-News", representatives of the party insist on the need to reduce the Georgian peacekeeping contingent in this country.
"We urge the Georgian authorities to reconsider the scale of participation of the Georgian troops in international peacekeeping missions and to reduce the number of Georgian soldiers, who were sent abroad, to a reasonable level" - said the "Georgian Party" in a statement.
Recall, the death of a junior sergeant Revaz Beridze became known on the eve. "Junior sergeant Revaz Beridze served in Helmand province in the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the mission ISAF. Beridze died in result of injuries sustained during attack of the Taliban while being on patrol" - said on the eve the Georgian Ministry of Defense. They, however, did not specify when exactly the tragedy occurred. We only know that the body of the deceased is is already transfered to the homeland.
