Europe recollects the events of May 26 in Tbilisi
Today, mass actions dedicated to the bloody events of May 26 this year in Georgia, when the authorities of the country supressed rallies of opposition "National Assembly" in the center of the Georgian capital at Rustaveli Square, will begin in six European countries, as well as at the territory of Sakartvelo. In the event two people were killed, dozens were injured.
The current rally in memory of those days will be held over four days in the buildings of diplomatic missions of Georgia in six European countries. Its organizers became youth organizations of opposition parties "Kartuli Dasi" and movement "Whites" as well as non-governmental organizations "Iverieli" and "Georgian Emigrants". In the course of today, September 5, the actions will be held simultaneously in Krtsanisi, near the Delegation of the European Union in Georgia, as well as in Turkey, Greece, Italy, Poland, France and Spain.
Actions near the EU Mission in Georgia will be held on September 6. In addition, on September 7 - near the parliament, and on September 8 - near the UN building in Tbilisi.
A documentary about the dispersal of the demonstration on May 26 Rustaveli Avenue will also be screened during the actions.
As the organizers of the march explained in an interview, their "aim is to remind Europe about events that occurred on May 26 in Tbilisi and about the fact that Georgia is authoritarian regime".
