The largest hydropower plant in Europe will be in Georgia
In a short time, the largest hydroelectric power station in Europe will be built at the territory of Adjara. According to "Business-Georgia", this project will become the largest in Georgia's energy sector. Investor of the building will become Norway's Clean Energy Invest. According to management, this company is willing to invest $ 600 million in this project. The new HPS will be located on the river Adzharistskali.
Such large-scale plans of the Norwegians was learned during a recent meeting of Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Adjara Grigol Tsamalashvili with the leadership of Clean Energy Invest. The talks were also attended by representatives of nongovernmental organizations.
During the meeting it was noted that the Norwegian engineering consulting company "Norconsult" has conducted research on the project. According to these studies, the output of this hydroelectric power will be about 300 MW, annual production - 1.2 billion kilowatts. International Finance Corporation will participate in financing the project.
