Philippe Lefort is preparing for a trip to Armenia
Ambassador Philippe Lefort, who was recently appointed European Union Special Representative for South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, intends to visit Armenia on September 7. This was announced by the agency Trend with reference to the Information Centre of European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI).
In Yerevan, Lefort intends to hold meetings with senior Armenian political officials, including the President of Armenia, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Defense Minister and National Security Council Secretary.
As the EU High Representative Catherine Ashton recently noted, commenting on the appointment of a new position Lefort, she hopes that his work in this position will contribute to "strengthening the EU's role in this complex region". It was about the South Caucasus.
It is worth mentioning that Lefort is French diplomat with more than twenty-years experience. He has devoted most of his diplomatic career for the work in the Caucasus and Russia.
