Vashadze and Lefort have discussed the situation in the Caucasus
The head of the Georgian Foreign Ministry Grigol Vashadze and the new EU Special Representative for South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort have discussed the general situation in the South Caucasus region at their meeting in the Georgian capital. As reported by Trend citing the Georgian Foreign Ministry, Lefort arrived in Tbilisi from Baku on the eve, and today left for Yerevan.
During the meeting in Tbilisi, Lefort and Vashadze discussed topical issues of the Geneva talks on the prevention of tension in the Caucasus. In addition, they have exchanged their opinions on the current state of Georgian-Russian relations, as well as further deepening of relations of Georgia with the European Union.
Recall, the Geneva talks were begun after an armed conflict in Georgia in August 2008. They are held in accordance with the Ceasefire Agreement of 12 August 2008.
