Tina Kandelaki: Saakashvili will not force the Georgians to march in formation
Famous TV presenter Tina Kandelaki is confident that the population of Georgia feels a strong dislike for the current president Mikhail Saakashvili.
As Kandelaki said in an interview with "Sobesednik", the head of state excites the whole population's negative emotions. "Yes, in Georgia, you can get international passport in 25 minutes. And everyone likes it. But everyone also understand that Saakashvili is a typical American manager, and, when he became president, he didn't resign from the American corporation. Corporation instead of the country - that is what he is building, but the Georgians do not know how to march in formation" - she stressed.
Tina Kandelaki also noted that under Mikhail Saakashvili, the practice of mass surveillance of the discontented was introduced in Georgia. "We can't speak of freedom under Saakashvili - we can see total surveillance, monitoring of dissidents, army and police in full combat readiness. Many of my friends would be willing to speak out against him, but such a statement can turn into serious victims now. No one will dare to take such a responsibility" - said TV presenter.
Note, Tina Kandelaki is known for her criticism of the policies of current Georgian authorities. Thus, she has argued that president, Mikhail Saakashvili lives in his own world. "He feels that he controls the situation, but in fact the situation is controlling him" - she said.
Kandelaki believes that the Georgian leader is educated and well read. "But he's also sick - it's obvious" - she added.
Kandelaki also had some problems with entry into the territory of Georgia. "They gave me to understand about the undesirability of my visit" - said Tina. Kandelaki stressed that she never thought about the need for Mikhail Saakashvili's authorization to get home.
"Previously, Georgian men were legendary in Russia, and Saakashvili had debunked all the myths" - she said, calling the president "unsportsmanlike and non-sexual."
