The Europeans will study the situation with refugees in Sakartvelo
Today, September 19, a visit of member of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Accommodation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Tina Aketoft to Sakartvelo begins.
As reported by agency Trend with reference to the Georgian Parliament, she intends to convene a meeting with the Minister for the FDPs from Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Refugees and Resettlement Koba Subeliani, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Tornike Gordadze, First Deputy State Minister for Reintegration Irakli Porchkhidze, Georgian ombudsman George Tugushi, as well as the head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia Andrzej Tishkevich.
In addition, the European official is going to communicate with local and international NGOs. The main topic of the meetings with Georgian officials and social activists will be to study the problems of FDPs. For this purpose, Aketoft will visit the FDPs settlement in Tserovani and will meet temporarily displaced persons from South Ossetia, as well as will examine the conflict zone and the center of collective settlement, located in Tbilisi.
The visit of Aketoft to Sakartvelo lasts until September 23.
