Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs: Agreement are beyond the competence of the Working Group on the border with Abkhazia
According to the head of analytical department of the Georgian Interior Ministry Shota Utiashvili, the working group on prevention of incidents in the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict zone and responding to them has no competence for execution of the relevant agreements, which require the authorities of Abkhazia. As reported by the "GHN", that was how Utiashvili commented the demand of the Abkhaz side to execute an agreement within working group meetings, which took place yesterday in Gali. "Execution of agreements is beyond the competence of this mechanism" - stressed the representative of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The day before, at a meeting in Gali, the Abkhaz side has demanded from Georgia to execute two agreements - on the official checkpoints across the Georgian-Abkhazian border and an agreement on the detention of offenders and the exchange of detainees.
Such position was announced earlier by the representative of President of Abkhazia Ruslan Kishmaria. According to him, the passage of the Georgian-Abkhazian border should become civilized. According to Kishmaria, the only way of civilized control of this border is to make appropriate arrangements between Abkhazia and Georgia and to determine the official crossing points.
All residents of Abkhazia, crossing the Abkhaz-Georgian border are now registered at the territory of Georgia, what has not been doing before, said Kishmaria.
"Currently, the arrangement of the state border of Georgia and Abkhazia is almost completed, what further will help to solve problems related to its illegal crossing" - he added.
"Georgian authorities will eventually have to recognize the state border with Abkhazia" - concluded the representative of the Abkhazian president.
