Minister of Education of Georgia met the deputy U.S. secretary of state
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkin met with Deputy U.S. Secretary of Education Marian Craven during his visit to the United States.
As reported by "PirWeli", the head of the Georgian Ministry told about the process of carrying out the program "Teach and Learn in Georgia", which provides visit of 1500 English language teachers from around the world to the Republic.
It was noted that Marian Craven praised this initiative and expressed readiness to support it.
Recall, the program "Teach and Learn in Georgia" has been launched since the beginning of the academic year 2010 at the initiative of Mikhail Saakashvili. The country was visited by about fifteen hundred volunteer teachers from abroad to teach English the Georgian students and teachers.
Meanwhile, according to the opposition, the educational level of teachers, visiting Georgia, leaves much to be desired. According to the ex-speaker of Georgian parliament Nino Burjanadze, Georgia is being visited by "English teachers with a dubious reputation, some of them have no diplomas or higher education".
