In the U.S., Georgian president met the president of Switzerland
In the framework of the UN General Assembly in New York a meeting between the presidents of Georgia and Switzerland Mikhail Saakashvili and Micheline Calmy-Rey took place. As reported by Trend, the sides have discussed the intensification of Switzerland's role as a mediator in settlement of the Georgian-Russian relations.
As the Georgian presidential administration explained in an interview with reporters, Saakashvili and Calmy-Rey have also discussed the progress of negotiations on Russia's accession into the World Trade Organization (WTO). They are held under the mediation of Switzerland.
Also they have discussed the prospects of cooperation of Sakartvelo with Switzerland. "The leaders of the two countries agreed to establish closer relations and to continue dialogue to deepen the relationship between Georgia and Switzerland" - said the statement of the Saakashvili administration.
