Georgia and the EU will discuss a free trade agreement in the near future
According to the information announced on the eve by the Deputy Director of Foreign Service of the EU, Europe and Central Asia, Gunnar Wiegand in the Georgian capital, Georgia and the European Union will discuss an agreement on deep and comprehensive free trade very soon. As reported by "Georgia-News", Wiegand leads the EU delegation, which participates in the 11th meeting of the Committee on Cooperation between the European Union and Georgia.
"It's hard to say when this will happen but I'm sure it'll happen very soon. Once we complete the preliminary work that must precede the onset of formal negotiations we'll clearly speak on the actual start time of negotiations" - said Wiegand.
He recalled that agreement on a deep and comprehensive free trade is a part of the associated agreements between Georgia and the EU. This, in turn, is a part of the EU initiative "Eastern Partnership".
