Batumi has suffered from rampant disaster
Heavy rains continued for almost a day in the capital of Adjara - Batumi. The agency According to Trend citing ITAR-TASS, as a result of rampant disaster on Sunday, traffic on main roads and highways of Black Sea resort was paralyzed during several hours.
According to local MOE, the level of water in some streets of the city reached 1-1.5 meters. As representatives from the mayor's office told media, they have taken all necessary measures to pump water off the streets of the city and the restoration of traffic.
However, in addition to complications of the road situation there was slightly damaged local power station. This has led to disruptions in the supply of electricity to approximately 15 thousand residents of Batumi. At the moment they are trying to repair the damaged power facilities. They promise that the electricity supply will be resumed during the next few hours.
As a result of rainfall there were also flooded the ground floors and basements of hundreds of private homes and buildings. According to experts, such heavy rains and flooding in Batumi haven't occured about 20 years.
