Leonid Lakerbaya appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia. This was reported by Trend referring to RIA Novosti. Earlier Lakerbaya served as vice prime minister of the RA and supervised social sector, the Abkhaz government explained in an interview. The corresponding decree was signed today by President of Abkhazia Ankvab.
As noted, new Prime Minister must submit proposals on the structure and personnel of the Cabinet to the President of the country.
Recall, yesterday in the capital of Abkhazia - Sukhum - inauguration ceremony of the new head of state was held. Federation Council Speaker of RF Valentina Matvienko arrived in Sukhumi to participate in the inauguration ceremony of President of Abkhazia Ankvab. She sent Ankvab greetings from top leadership of Russia in connection with the election of the president and invited him to visit the Russian capital in the near future.
It is worth noting that after his election victory Ankvab has repeatedly stated that he intends to develop a strategic partnership with Russia. "Russia was and remains a strategic partner for Abkhazia in all areas" - said Ankvab.
He also stressed that Moscow has not interfere in the election campaign in the republic. "Russian officials and public bodies were completely distanced from the election process in Abkhazia" - said Ankvab.
Vice-President also thanked Russian observers for the work at the elections. "I want to thank Russia for a large observers delegation to the elections in Abkhazia" - he said.
Election of the new head of the Abkhaz state took place on August 26 this year. Vice-president Alexander Ankvab won with 55 percent of the vote.
"Our candidate won about 55 percent of the vote. It is in absolute terms, according to our calculations based on data from the precinct and district election commissions, 58 000 people voted for him. Shamba took second place. He won 23 000 votes. Khajimba was 3rd. He received the votes of 22,000 citizens", said campaign manager Leonid Lakerbaya.
He noted that Ankvab won in all the regions of the country. "He won at all sites by a wide margin from his competitors, who do not doubt in his victory" - said Lakerbaya.

The need for early presidential elections in Abkhazia was caused by the tragic death of President Sergei Bagapsh. He died on 29 May this year in the Russian capital on 63-year life.
Prior to this, May 21, at 83rd hospital of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of Russia President of Abkhazia had surgery on the right lung, which was successful. However, further state of Bagapsh has deteriorated and doctors couldn't save him.
