Expert: Saakashvili will do anything to make life difficult for Russia
The head of Fund Democracy study problems Maxim Grigoriev is sure that Georgia's position on Russia's accession to the WTO can not become a bargaining chip between Moscow and Tbilisi.
As Grigoriev said in an interview to GeorgiaTimes, the current authorities of the Caucasus republic are not a self-reliant unit and are used by third parties for trying to negotiate with Moscow for additional preferences. "Many of the decisions are made not in Georgia. This issue (Russia's accession to the WTO) will be solved in other corridors. And Georgia is used to negotiate with Russia to create some tension with Russia" - he stressed.
"Michail Saakashvili does everything to make life difficult for Russia. But Georgia and Russia are not equal. And from a purely economic point of view, Georgia depends on Russia more than Russia depends on Georgia" - he added.
In addition, Maxim Grigoriev believes that Mikhail Saakashvili will not be able to achieve target, set by his foreign partners. "I do not believe that Georgia's position is determinative. I do not think Georgia will be able to trade their veto to get some concessions from Russia" - said the head of the Fund Democracy study problems.
