Saakashvili met with voters of Telavi
On the eve, Georgian leader Mikhail Saakashvili visited Kakheti region where he met with voters. As reported by "Georgia-News" with reference to the official website of the President, at the meeting Saakashvili appealed to Telavi residents and talked to them about the electoral environment, current reforms in the country and also about projects in Kakheti.
"Kakheti is a special place of Georgia and much is being done in Sighnaghi, Gurjaani, Sagarejo, Dedoplistskaro, Kvareli Lagodekhi and many things are changing in Ahmet. But all of us, every member of our party, a representative of local authorities or the governor, we don't forget even for a moment that one of the most important centers of Kakheti and whole Georgia is, of course, Telavi. Whatever we do, no matter how much we work, how much new features we implement, I will always say that Telavi deserves even more, and we need to do more" - Saakashvili said.
Then the President underlined the successes of local residents in the development of the region's agriculture in Kakheti. But he accused Russia of the problems and challenges facing the region.
"I want to tell you that you have made a truly historic deal in recent years. In 2005, serious work already begun, we went to the markets, in particular, from the point of wine exports, we have begun construction of houses, people got money, but in 2006 year, Russia imposed an embargo, and stabbed Kakheti in the heart, in the first place - Telavi. They thought that disgruntled Kakhetians and, above all, Telavi residents, because here was a center and, accordingly, here the money came, will take sticks in their hands, kick out the government, open the gates for the enemy and will invite him into the heart of Georgia. They knew where the mood of Georgia is being formed, and kicked us in the place where this mood is being formed" - Saakashvili said.
