The Armenian authorities discuss the resumption of dialogue with the ANC
Today, at 18:00 local time, Armenia's ruling coalition intends to hold discussions on the resumption of dialogue between official authorities and representatives of the Armenian National Congress (ANC). This was reported by Trend referring to the Armenian media.
As a member of RPA faction Gagik Minasyan told in an interview, he excludes the possibility of extending the discussion in connection with a press conference with the leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan. It is also scheduled for today, 18:30. "In any case, we will meet at 18.00" - said the deputy.
Recall, on the eve, a rally Armenian opposition took place in Yerevan. According to the Armenian police, it was held without any incidents. The police reminded that the current rally was organized by the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC). It was held at Freedom Square in Yerevan, and was attended by about 6000 people.
"... After the rally, it was announced about continuation of mass action in around the clock format. During the meeting the police had observed the public order" - stated in the police.
At the rally, the ANC opposition decided to hold rallies around the clock at Freedom Square during the coming week. At the square, there was established about ten tents where ANC activists spend the night.
At a rally, the head of the ANC, ex-President Levon Ter-Petrosyan announced following opposition's demands: to hold early presidential and parliamentary elections till the end of the year; before the elections to make real changes, which the opposition suggested earlier, to the Electoral Code.
It is worth mentioning that next parliamentary elections in Armenia are scheduled for May 2012, and presidential - for February 2013.
