The Georgian Ministry of Agriculture passes on to soy and sunflower seeds
The Georgian Ministry of Agriculture unveiled its plans to deliver to the country high-quality seeds of soybeans and sunflower seeds which will increase the yield of these crops in the country. As reported by "Business-Georgia", the two new programs, developed in the walls of the office, will provide this.
These programs aim at increasing the production of local products and reduction imports. The crops enjoy growing in demand among poultry and livestock farms, so they need to increase the production of such crops as sunflowers and soybeans, according to experts of the Georgian Ministry of Agriculture.
As Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Constantine Kobakhidze noted in an interview with reporters, the programs on the effective cultivation of maize and wheat have been successful. Since 2012, they will also implement the program on the cultivation of soybeans and sunflower seeds, the official added. In his view, these crops are important for poultry and livestock, as it will make possible the creation of fodder basis. And import substitution is even more important in this is the issue, said Kobakhidze.
