Germany calls Georgia for dialogue with Abkhazia and South Ossetia
German Ambassador to Georgia Ortvin Hoenig said that official Tbilisi should start a direct dialogue with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
"Together with partners from the EU and NATO, we are trying to make Tbilisi to start a dialogue with the de facto authorities of Abkhazia and South Ossetia" - VZGLIAD reported the diplomat's words.
According to him, the principles of public diplomacy could help to build ties between Georgia and two republics.
At the same time Hoenig added that Germany adheres to the principle of recognition of "territorial integrity" of Georgia.
Note that not so long ago, well-known Georgian opposition leader Irakli Alasania said that Germany could become a mediator in restoration of relations between Moscow and Tbilisi.
Alasania said that his confidence in this is based on the outcome of the visit to the administration of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. However, as the head of the movement "Free Democrats" believes, the main condition for establishing the Russian-Georgian relations is a resignation of President Mikheil Saakashvili.
"I believe that after Saakashvili's resignation a dialogue between Russia and Georgia will resume with the help of Germany" - said Alasania.
