Georgian winemakers do not rush to Russia
According to information made public today by a number of Georgian wine producers, they refuse to export their products to Russia. As reported by RBC referring to Georgian media, winemekers of Sakartvelo called development of other markets, including Europe, their priority.
In particular, according to director of Georgian wine company Teliani Valley Shota Hobeliya, the management of company has no plans to negotiate on the return of their products to Russian market. He believes that from the time when Russia imposed embargo on Georgian wine the company got other priorities.
This position was also voiced by director of Telavi Wine Cellar Zurab Ramazashvili. Any statement of Rospotrebnadzor about return of Georgian wines and mineral waters to Russian market is a political game, he said. After Russian imposed embargo on Georgian products, Moscow has repeatedly announced its plans to remove it, but were no negotiations with Georgian side on this issue.
Producer of mineral water "Borjomi" - IDS Borjomi International also sees no sense to negotiations with the Russians.
Recall, Russia imposed embargo on shipments "Borjomi" and other mineral waters, as well as wine production from Georgia, in 2006.
