The register "Memory of the World" was enriched by the objects of Georgian spiritual heritage
UNESCO register "Memory of the World" was enriched by seven new documentary collections of monuments of spiritual culture from Georgian, Angola, Armenia, France, Kazakhstan, Portugal and the United States, "Georgia-News" reported quoting the UN News Centre.
According to UN experts, some of Georgian manuscripts, included to the list, belong to the fifth century AD. Their total amount is about a thousand. They are stored at the National Center of Manuscripts in Tbilisi.
Among other historical treasures which have got to "Memory of the World" list - Archival Fund of Aral Sea in Kazakhstan - the documents dated with 1965-1990 period, which presents data on the environmental crisis in the sea. The register also included Markarian's Review - documents of astronomical observations made at the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory in Armenia from 1965 to 1980.
Thus, now the list of "Memory of the World" contains information on 245 historical objects.
UNESCO Program "Memory of the World" seeks to preserve World Heritage of valuable archive holdings and library collections, as well as expanding access to them.
