Baku criticizes Sarkozy for the appeal to recognize Armenian Genocide
The representatives of Azerbaijan do not agree with the position of Nicolas Sarkozy who called on Turkey to recognize Armenian genocide by the Ottoman Empire.
"Interests of Turkey and Azerbaijan are equal for official Baku both in the South Caucasus and in international affairs", this, according to "Georgia-News", said the Head of Social-Political Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov.
Earlier, the minister of Turkish Government on Relations with the European Union Egemen Bahish said that French President Nicolas Sarkozy should deal with the problems of his state and he should not try on the role of the historian. This was how Bahish commented on the statement of French leader that if Turkey does not recognize the "Armenian genocide" till the end of 2011, then Paris will take appropriate action.
Sarkozy made this remark on the eve, during his visit to Yerevan, at the time of visiting the memorial dedicated to the memory of the Armenian Genocide.
According to the Turkish minister, Sarkozy has made this statement to increase his own rating.
