Expert: Opposition of South Ossetia leads the country towards civil war
Head of Sector for Caucasian Studies of RISS Jana Amelina sharply criticized the opposition's actions in South Ossetia.
As reported by REGNUM, according to Amelina, the latest developments in Tskhinval show that many people who tend into power have the amazing "political immaturity". "About what kind of leadership of the state can dream a man who is not going to comply with the requirements of current legislation which has established a ten-year residency requirement? What kind of rights and freedoms mean the authors of opposition sites, based in the North Ossetian, with both hands supporting bullies, in an obvious way destabilizing situation in the south of the country and leading to civil war?", she pointed out.
According Amelina, Eduard Kokoity's opponents intentionally silent about the fact that the current head of South Ossetian government follows the requirements of the local Constitution and does not intend to become president for a third time. She also expressed surprise that opposition supporters are actively cooperating with Georgian media. "Is it normal for Ossetian patriots, as these nihilists are calling themselves, to voice its position in hostile - let's call a spade a spade - media, who calls your country "occupied regions of Georgia"? Is it suitable for them when they are called for example "so-called ex-Minister of Education of the Republic", as they are called in the Georgian air?", said Jana Amelin.
"It is not too late to realize what is happening and to make a sober, sensible choice that will affect not only the fate of a small South Ossetia, but also the entire Caucasus region at least for the next few years", added the head of Sector for Caucasian Studies of RISS .
Recall, September 30, about two hundred supporters of the head coach of Russia in freestyle wrestling Dzambolat Tedeyev attacked the building of the Central Executive Committee of South Ossetia, whose members were to consider the possibility of registering Tedeyev as a candidate for president of the republic. The crowd was pushed away from the building by law enforcement officials and the representatives of CEC have ultimately denied Tedeyev in registration in connection with a breach of residency.
Tedeyev later said that his house was cordoned off by riot police and SWAT. However, this information was not officialy confirmed.
