Dzambolat Tedeyev: I have done nothing wrong
Head coach of Russia in freestyle wrestling Dzambolat Tedeyev has shared his vision of the situation with the refusal of the CEC of the RSO to register him as a candidate for president of South Ossetia.
According to Tedeyev, the CEC members made this decision under pressure of authorities and the rally in Tskhinval was related to a feeling of impunity of republic's leadership. "I can say one thing that I do not feel guilt. The authorities carried out provocations in South Ossetia, now we can expect anything from them. They have a sense of impunity, they understand that in a month we'll have other president and they are trying to fully get rid of their opponents in order to those who do not like them now do not enter into power by legal means", Tedeyev said in an interview to the BBC".
South Ossetian opposition leader said that at the moment he is not going to leave the republic. "The authorities in South Ossetia are trying to make me go away, so I came here because they are afraid of my influence. Those who will be supported by my adherents and our campaign headquarters, he might actually become president of South Ossetia", he believes.
Dzambolat Tedeyev also stressed that any presidential candidate in South Ossetia is "pro-Russian", even though Moscow has not expressed a preference to any of the applicants. "Regardless of which candidate would be registered or not by the CEC, all of us are pro-Russian. All we really want to build a legal and legitimate government in order to be recognized throughout the world and not by some individual states", said the head coach of Russia in freestyle wrestling.
Recall, September 30, about two hundred supporters of the head coach of Russia in freestyle wrestling Dzambolat Tedeyev attacked the building of the Central Executive Committee of South Ossetia, whose members were to consider the possibility of registering Tedeyev as a candidate for president of the republic. The crowd was pushed away from the building by law enforcement officials and the representatives of CEC have ultimately denied Tedeyev in registration in connection with a breach of residency.
Tedeyev later said that his house was cordoned off by riot police and SWAT. However, this information was not officialy confirmed.
