Bitsadze's lawyer is going to complain about the Georgian court
As Levan Samushia, who is an advocate of the former Georgian shefa Pogranpolitsii Badri Bitsadze, reported in an interview, today the Tbilisi Court of Appeal decided to uphold the trial court's decision regarding his client.
"It's illegal and unjust decision, but today's reality is that the court is biassed in Georgia. There are a number of witnesses and evidence, according to which criminal acts by Bitsadze were not recorded", said Samushia to reporters.
Within a month, this decision will be appealed at the Supreme Court. The next step will be an appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg, the lawyer said.
Samushia said that on the eve, the chairman of "National Assembly" Nona Gaprindashvili was questioned as a witness. "Unfortunately, her testimony did not affect the court's decision", added the lawyer.
Recall, according to "Georgia-News", on August 19 this year, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced Bitsadze to 5 years and 6 months imprisonment. He was convicted under Article 25.353 of the part two of the Criminal Code of Georgia - "confrontation, threat or violence against the defenders of public order or other authorities, carried out by group".
