Amendments to the Georgian Election Code were Aaopted
Today, the Georgian parliament approved amendments to the current Electoral Code of Georgia in the third reading. As reported by "Georgia-News", according to the amendments, a State Commission for verification of voter lists will be established in the country. 81 deputies voted for the adoption of the amendments.
Now, the State Commission for verification of voter lists will include not more than 21 people. Among them, eight people will be from the opposition and authorities, as well as representatives of NGOs. The head of the Commission will be representative of the opposition, and the Secretary and Deputy Chairman will be elected by members of the committee.
Commission should work out internal rules of its work. It must be approved by the President of Georgia. Such a schedule will be effective until July 1, 2012.
