Gilauri: Canada is an important partner for Georgia
According to the head of the Georgian government Nikoloz Gilauri, Canada is one of the important partners of Georgia. As reported by the GHN, Gilauri announced this position after a meeting with his Canadian counterpart Stephen Harper.
"At a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister, we discussed several issues including the forthcoming NATO summit, where we hope to support Canada and this support is guaranteed. We have discussed economic issues, in particular - free trade, which we have not established with Canada yet. In the near future we will begin negotiations on this subject. We have also talked about an agreement with a Canadian bank which is the most important financial institution in order to Canadian companies come to Georgia", said Gilauri.
He added that at the meeting with a Canadian representative, they also discussed the strategic agreement between the two countries in the field of defense.
