Experts: Tbilisi airport is worthless
According to Chairman of the Board of Directors of the airline "Airzena" Tamaz Gaiashvili, infrastructure of Tbilisi International Airport does not meet the necessary requirements in order to receive a new type of planes. According to "Business-Georgia", Gaiashvili unveiled this position today.
He noted that the runway, apron, as well as the building of the airport itself need of repair in order to serve the modern airliners at an appropriate level.
Recall, the other day in the Georgian capital, the ceremony of signing the agreement under which the Georgian airline "Airzena" will acquire two new aircrafts Boeing. The document was signed by vice-president of the Boeing Marty Bentrot and chairman of the Board of Directors of "Airzena" Tamaz Gayashvili.
Under the agreement, the airline will get Boeing 737 New Generation (NG) and Boeing 787 - "Dreamliner." The first aircraft will replenish the fleet of the Georgian Airlines in late 2012 and the second - in 2018.
In addition, under this agreement, the Boeing plans to allocate a grant for training of Georgian aviators. Rector of Tbilisi Aviation University, based on which the training will be carried out, will receive a grant from the hands of the vice-president of the Boeing.
