Armenia hopes to strengthen relations with the U.S.
According to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, his country has always been resolute in strengthening relations with the United States. According to Trend referring to the Armenian media, Sargsyan announced this position during a meeting with the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns.
Armenia considers relations with the United States as a condition to ensure the ongoing reforms in the country, economic development and regional stability, emphasized the Armenian leader. He added that Armenia also attaches special importance to the mediation efforts of the United States as the co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group on the peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Recall, the conflict between the two South Caucasus countries - Armenia and Azerbaijan - over Nagorno-Karabakh began in 1988.
The U.S. official William Burns arrived in Yerevan within the framework of his South Caucasian tour. He had previously visited Baku and Tbilisi.
