Georgia and the EU discuss associate membership
According to information released today by the Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze at a briefing, in Tbilisi today, the 7th plenary session on the associated agreement between Georgia and the EU is held. The purpose of the meeting - is approval of all necessary documents, reported "Georgia-News".
The Georgian delegation at the meeting, which will be held over two days, is led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Tornike Gordadze and the EU delegation - by the head of Directorate for Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus and Central Asia of Directorate General for International Relations of the European Commission Gunnar Wiegand.
"The session will focus on economics, finance and sectoral co-operation", explained Kalandadze.
He added that after the entry into force of the associated agreement, it will replace a number of current bilateral agreements on partnership and cooperation between Georgia and the EU.
The 6th Plenary Session on the associated agreement between Georgia and the EU took place in July in Brussels.
