The Court did not return Ivanishvili Georgian citizenship
Lawsuit of lawyers of the businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili and his wife Catherine Khvedelidze on stay of the decision of President of Georgia on the deprivation of Georgian citizenship was not satisfied. According to Trend, this decision was made today by Tbilisi court on administrative matters.
As Ivanishvili's lawyer Shalva Tadumadze explained to reporters after the hearing, the court courier handed him a letter stating that the court dismissed an action for annulment of the order № 602 of President of Georgia. It contains information about the deprivation of citizenship of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili and Catherine Khvedelidze.
"The lawsuit also included petition to suspend the order number 692, as this would prejudice the legitimate interests and rights of Bidzina Ivanishvili and Catherine Khvedelidze", said the lawyer.
He added that he believes this ruling illegal. And within 12 days the businessman's lawyers intend to appeal the Court of Appeal.
Recall, a few weeks ago, the Civil Registry Agency of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia issued a statement saying that the businessman Bidzina Ivanishvili, which intends to establish an opposition party in Sakartvelo, as well as to participate in the parliamentary elections in Georgia in 2012, is no longer a citizen of the republic. "Under the Constitution of Georgia and the 32nd article of the law "On Citizenship of Georgia", if a citizen of Georgia accepts citizenship of another country, it automatically causes a loss of Georgian citizenship", "Interfax" quoted Agency's statement.
"A citizen of Russia Bidzina Ivanishvili was granted Georgian citizenship on July 22, 2004", the GHN quoted the document by the Georgian authorities.
