Expert: Saakashvili, Sargsyan and Aliev can face trial in Hague
Well-known Russian political scientist Modest Kolerov believes that the integration of South Caucasus countries into European and Euro-Atlantic structures threatens the region's leaders criminal prosecution.
"Political de-sovereignization, ie the transfer of a higher, including the criminal power in the country into the hands of supranational and external in relation to the Transcaucasus European structures inevitably threatens any leader of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia higher criminal prosecution - at least because their external replacement in power is inevitable - even under the guarantee of Euro-Atlantic structures - and will cause the destruction of their economic and political influence ", IA REGNUM quoted the words of Kolerov.
As the expert said, "the prospect of Hague is still realistic, not only for possible victims of the "inner revolution" in Armenia, but the future "Euro-reformers" in Georgia and Azerbaijan from clans of Aliyevs and Saakashvilis".
According to Kolerov, Europe can not turn a blind eye to corruption growth and regimes of political bondage that has been established in South Caucasus, as well as to "deficient legitimacy of the leaders of Georgia and Azerbaijan".
It should be noted that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in an interview to "PIC", Russia Today and radio station "Echo Moskvy" said that Georgian leader Mikhail Saakashvili should be brought before an international tribunal.
Answering the question of whether Medvedev believes it possible to bring Saakashvili before an international tribunal, he replied: "If you had asked me, I would say "yes". The head of the Russian government added that the thing, which made president of Georgia, is a flagrant violation of international law.
"But given the fact that they can hardly rely only on Russia's position, I think that the establishment of an international tribunal is currently unrealistic", said Medvedev, adding that the final trial will be historical, while the intermediate court will be conducted by voters of Georgia .
