Putin: We are developing diversified relations with Armenia
As Prime Minister Vladimir Putin stated at a meeting with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, "we have been developing quite diversified relations in several areas". As recalled by Trend referring to the Armenian media, these days Sargsyan is visiting Moscow.
"Last year trade turnover grew by 19 percent and during the first six months of this year - by another 14 percent. Also Russian investments in Armenian economy already amounts nearly $ 3 billion", said Putin at a meeting with Sargsyan.
"Our relations are very good, we are satisfied with the dialogue and atmosphere that allows us to discuss any issues", said Sargsyan in his turn.
"As you have noted, last year we reached the turnover of $ 1 billion. For Armenia, this is a serious figure. 57 percent of all foreign investments in Armenia - is Russian investment. Our humanitarian relationships are also being developed. Of course, we would like to discuss the possibility of new programs that will further strengthen our relations", concluded the Armenian president.
At the meeting with Sargsyan, held October 24 in the Kremlin, the Russian president Dmitry Medvedev also said that Moscow intends to continue to contribute to the negotiation process to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh.
"I am personally convinced that a just solution of the conflict can only be achieved through political means", said Russian president during his meeting with his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan, adding that in recent years, much has been done in this direction.
For his part, Sargsyan thanked Medvedev for his mediation efforts which the Russian side carries out in close cooperation with other countries co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
