Vashadze: Russia wants to prevent Georgia from NATO accession
Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze said that Georgia is still hoping to join NATO.
According to VZGLIAD, Vashadze accused Moscow of trying intentionally complicate the accession of Georgia into the Organization. "Russia has tried to slow down Georgia on the path to NATO, invaded Georgia, killing innocent civilians and causing a new wave of refugees - more than 60 thousand people", he said.
Recall, the visit of the Special Representative of the Secretary General of NATO for Caucasus and Central Asia James Appathurai to Sakartvelo is scheduled for October 27. As reported by the GHN, the deputy head of the Georgian Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said this today in an interview with reporters at a briefing. She noted that this is the second visit of Appathurai to Georgia. The first was held in April this year. According to Tbilisi, this fact confirms the political support to Georgia.
"The meetings will be held at high level. This visit allows within the meetings to to consider all current issues which Georgia meets on its way into the alliance, also in a bilateral dialogue we'll consider all those issues that are in the schedule", said Kalandadze. She explained that Appathurai will meet the prime minister, deputy prime minister, the secretary of the Security Council and Foreign Minister of Georgia.
