Armenia hopes on simplification of visa regime with the EU
According to the head of Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Yerevan hopes for a quick approval of the mandate to start negotiations with the EU on visa regime. According to Trend referring to the Armenian media, on the eve, Armenian minister made such a statement in Luxembourg, during a signing ceremony of Declaration on "Partnership for Mobility" with representatives of the EU.
"We welcome the European Commission's proposal to start negotiations about simplifying visa regime with the EU and we hope that the European Council will soon adopt a mandate to start negotiations. Armenia expects the prompt signing of the EU agreement on visa facilitation and readmission agreements", said Nalbandian in his yestarday's speech. The abolition of visa regime for citizens, he said, is the next stage.
Declaration "Partnership for Mobility" regulates migration flows management, fight against illegal migration, as well as the legal entry of citizens of Armenia to the EU.
From the Armenian side the document was signed by the Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, and from the EU - European Commissioner for Internal Affairs Cecilia Malmstrцm and Ministers of the Interior of the European Union.
