Georgia is preparing grandiose plans to develop tourism
The development of tourism in Sakartvelo should be implemented in two directions. According to "Business-Georgia", the first direction - is "horizontal policies" aimed at creating an enabling environment for tourism in the country. The second direction - is "vertical policies", providing investing in tourism infrastructure, as well as improving the current balance. These recommendations are contained in a special ten-point plan of strategic development of Georgia, developed by the Georgian government.
It highlights that by 2015 the number of visitors to Georgia should increase to 5 million per year. Also - at the same time, Sakartvelo should become one of the winter tourism centers.
"We'll activate annual tourism advertising campaign in those countries which the have high potential for attracting tourists, particularly in Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Israel, Baltic countries. Another priority is to attract low-cost airlines and diversification of direct flights on three main areas (Western Europe, New East and Asia)", the document stressed.
Today, Prime Minister Nika Gilauri should announce the main directions of Georgia's strategic development plan in a special video-conference on the Internet.
