Dvorkovich called the date on the WTO - December 15
Russian presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich announced a possible date when, in his opinion, the final decision on Russia's entry into the WTO may be made. According to "Georgia-News", Dvorkovich hopes that this issue will be finally resolved at the WTO ministerial meeting on December 15.
"If we complete all necessary procedures, the working group would take place on November 11. And if the decision of the working group will be positive, on December 15, the ministerial meeting can complete the process of Russia's joining the WTO", RIA Novosti quoted Russian presidential aide's words at a press conference in Moscow. All documents must be also ratified in Russia, said Dvorkovich.
He further recalled that President of Switzerland Micheline Calmy-Rey is in Tbilisi today. This country acts as an intermediary in negotiations between Russia and Georgia to join the WTO. "I hope that we'll learn the result of these consultations in the near future", said the president's aide.
Earlier today, Arkady Dvorkovich expressed his confidence that Moscow will be able to resolve its differences with the Georgian side and to obtain the consent of Tbilisi on Russia's accession to the WTO very soon.
According to VZGLIAD, after talks of President Dmitry Medvedev with President of Switzerland Micheline Calmy-Rey on the possible accession of Russia to the World Trade Organization, Dvorkovich said that after the discussion there remain a number of questions which require clarification.
