Georgian MIA: Country is being visited more often
According to information, announced today by information-analytical department of Georgian Interior Ministry, in the period from January to October this year, the border of Sakartvelo was crossed by more than 2.3 million foreigners. As reported by "Georgia-News", citing the message of the Department, this is for 820 thousand more than at the same period last year.
As explained in the Department, the majority of visitors were from Turkey - 584.2 thousand people. The second highest attendance - the citizens of Azerbaijan - 583 thousand people, the third is Armenia - 571 500. Russian citizens are at fourth place - 235 thousand people.
Another statistics was given on the number of foreign nationals crossing the border through the checkpoint "Kazbegi-Lars".
Thus, according to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, for the first ten months of 2011, 154 200 people have crossed this checkpoint. Of these, 82 600 - are citizens of Russia, 48 800 - Armenian citizens, 11 600 - the citizens of Georgia. And about 11.1 thousand - citizens of other countries.
