In this letter, the actress has expressed her outrage by the situation around Georgia's homeless animals in general, and in Tbilisi, in particular.
Every year, thousands of animals die in are in deplorable conditions in Tbilisi, said Bordeaux in her letter. According to her information, funds from the state budget for the maintenance of animals in the city, are being spent inefficiently. Rules of keeping animals in Tbilisi do not comply with control over animal populations, as in other countries, said further Bordeaux.
"On the contrary, these inhumane methods are causing destabilization of the animal population, the artificial increase of the number of homeless animals, and makes it impossible to carry out sanitary control of these animals", the letter says.
Bordeaux demanded Tbilisi's mayor to begin immediate consultations on this subject with experts and to develop a civilized and stable management program for stray animals in the city. In addition - to stop the extermination of animals, to create a special team, consisting of professionals working with animals, to open special shelters for the animals - that is to create conditions, which meet international standards, for stray animals in Tbilisi.
