Abkhazia is worried about conditions of Russia's accession into WTO
Abkhazia considers the prospect of Russia's joining the WTO and the establishment of international control at the borders of Georgia and Russia as the beginning of the "collapse of independence". As reported by the GHN with reference to the Abkhazian media, a concern was expressed by representatives of the local NGO "Aruaa". As the organization emphasized in a statement, its members are committed to take measures to protect the country's sovereignty.
"Aruaa" is worried about situation prevailing at the state border of the Republic of Abkhazia in connection with the Russian-Georgian agreement on Russia's WTO accession, according to a statement.
"Under the pretext of international monitoring, Georgia is trying to establish control over the national borders of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. We regard this as a first step towards minimizing the independence of our nation", the document says.
Its authors appeal to leaders of the country with a request to "assess the current events and to take appropriate action to protect state sovereignty of the Republic of Abkhazia".
