Moscow and Tbilisi have signed an agreement on the WTO
Russia and Georgia have signed the agreement on Russia's WTO accession. This was reported by Trend referring to "Reuters". The document was signed in Geneva (Switzerland). As the members of Georgian delegation at the talks explained in an interview, the document, in particular, provides placement of the international observers, who will maintain control over the turnover of goods across the border, along the border of Russia with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Last Saturday, this text was agreed by the parties. The compromise agreement was developed with the mediation of Switzerland.
Under the agreements, the monitoring of goods at the border will be carried out by an independent company. Russia and Georgia will send this information to the integrated database of the WTO.
The final meeting of the working group on Russia's WTO accession is scheduled for November 10-11.
Earlier, Russian President's Aide Arkady Dvorkovich expressed hope that the final decision on Russia's WTO accession will be made at the WTO ministerial meeting, scheduled for December 15, 2011.
It is worth mentioning that Russia is trying to become a WTO member since 1993.
