Georgia changes its peacekeepers in Afghanistan
119 soldiers of the advance team of the 33rd Battalion of the Georgian Armed Forces have returned to Georgia from Afghanistan. This was reported by "Georgia-News" citing the press service of the Georgian Defence Ministry. In an interview they told that the night before Georgian forces were met by the head of Georgian Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia. Peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan is carried out from April of this year.
"Within two weeks of the current the 31th Battalion will replace the 33rd Battalion. As part of a peacekeeping operation (ISAF), the 31st Battalion go to Afghanistan for the second time", the Ministry of Defense.
The battalion of Georgian peacekeepers served in Afghanistan as part of the American contingent.
It is worth mentioning that Georgian peacekeepers are serving in Afghanistan since 2009.
